Well, finally I’m here again and what a vacation!!! I enjoyed it frakking soooo much. And here’s the rundown of my summer escapade:
*April 9(Maundy Thursday)
It’s Maundy Thursday, My Company and I departed and go to Ilocos Sur and Norte. The first pit stop @ manong jay’s place to pick him up and his son somewhere in Mabalacat,Pampanga and he is also the alternate driver. Along the way we saw some people do the traditional holy week scenery (Penitensya/repentance), approximately about 7-8 hours before we arrive to our destination, the kids started to starved, so we decided the second pit stop in Tarlac and the kids where loves to eat?? Jollibee, yeah fully recovered again and the journey continues. The sunset comes, dvd marathon is set with Transporter 3 and Tanging ina nyong lahat, after 3 hours of motion pictures, my cousin decided to exchange his driving to my sister’s bf Michael because my cousin are weak in eyesight when driving at night and he pulled over at the gasoline station in La Union and it’s our third pit stop, full tank is served, then my cousin and I buy some in can beer, yes! Drinking plus various conversations while the trip is on-going, and then 2 hours passed WELCOME TO ILOCOS SUR came up! More than 1 hour ‘til we get to our aunt’s house in Sulvec,Narvacan Ilocos Sur, our excitement bursts while the window is open, oh yeah men! I smell the force of exultant. After we pass the province of Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan and La Union, we ended it with blissful approach, around 11 o’clock at midnight and the RED HORSE BEER is waiting to glug down. See you tomorrow Ilocos Norte.
*April 10(Good Friday)
6 am and the crowd is alive, breakfast coffee and hot pan desal dish up then before we go to our family house, me, manong jay and kids went to the beach and it’s only a block away from home then my 2 sister and brother in-law follows. The kids enjoy the striking waves, picture picture under the sun and down the shoreline. After that, we drive again to our family house @ Piddig,Ilocos Norte, along the way, before we go by to the bridge of Qurino @ Bantay Ilocos sur, we take again some pictures, i phone, camera phone and digicam is everybody’s hand to take some stunning sights and portrait of themselves. The trip take-up again and another couple of hours until we reach the house of my grandmother, afterwards we alight our feet into our dynasty house, my aunts and uncle are in attendance with “Kwatro Kantos” in the table. Ready for the lunch because our stomach needs to be fill in and the menu are pinakbet, longganisa iloco, sinanglao, papaitan, tsk tsk!!! “galit-galit muna sa pagkain” everybody’s reaction and all of us eating with our hands, I love Ilocano dishes (kasi wala masyado nito sa Manila). Gambling is our next activity, “Tong-its” is the game, me, my sister and my cousin Maida are the players, I lost the game and another game played “Lucky 9”, that time my funds earn and the banker lost all the capital that she has and one more game played and we don’t know the name of the game It’s like high or low in cards, you choose card/s, when your card are higher than the banker you win, then my cousin doesn’t have funds to gave us the winning bet, the game continues when everybody wins and he is only the looser, he runaway quickly and doesn’t pay the bets but it’s ok we enjoy the bonding moments.
The word “SPECTRUM” spreads out fast, everybody say that crazy word, even my aunts, uncle, cousins, nephews, nieces, sisters and my mother speaks that word and all it started our cousin Manong Jay, he always say that word.
“SPECTRUM!!!!!!!!!”
After a couple of resting hours, manong jay wake me up because the “inuman session” starts with manong kewi, Michael and my brother-in-law chatting , chilly San Mig Lights serves up. Lalalalala, so on and so forth, one by one the bottles are all empty, another round of snifter purchased. Hours gone by when me and manong jay is the only person stayed in the session, suddenly manong jay’s ex-bandmate/tropa manong Omar and Grany appeared on the scene. Yeah, the “toma” continue plus the acoustic guitar is executed, the bottles are emptied again, this time it’s SMB pale pilsen, aw!!! no more “pulang kabayo” or san mig.
“Syat lang ng syat” manong jay said.
“wala kasing tama to eh, kaya madami tayong iniinom, dapat red horse para may Spectrum” I replied.
Manong Omar nodded with smile on his face.
“wala na ba talaga sa mga tindahan?” Grany speaks.
“wala na manong, inikot na namin lahat ng tindahan, ubos na yung Red horse, nakarating na nga kami malapit sa sementeryo eh, buti naka motor kami ni manang Maida, hehehe!” I respond quickly.
And after several conversations, the gathering ended. Good night again and see you tomorrow PAGUDPUD, LIGHTHOUSE and WINDMILLS!!!
PS: It’s Good Friday and we make terrible things, hehe! Peace be with you Bro. =)
*April 11(Black Saturday)
I woke up energized because it’s the day of our voyage, we go to PAGUDPUD and the lists goes, everybody is keyed up, the clock ticks and it’s time to set off, now it’s 2 vehicles depart. We stop @ Laoag city to buy some snacks, more or less 2 hours is our travel time to the last Barangay of Ilocos Norte. Alongside of the road, faraway, we saw the colossal windmills.
“wow anlaki naman nun” I shout extremely.
My sister replied with excitement, “oo nga anlaki nya, mamaya ka, Pagudpud muna kami”.
And we’re so amazed to the beautiful scenes. Thirty minutes later, the arc of Pagudpud glances to our eyes and we make stopover to take some photograph to the arc, everybody is overjoyed on that site. In just a moment, the seaside is waving at us and as we enter to the resort that cheaper than the others(it’s only 20 peso a head), we’re become outrageous, the kids dashes to the shore. Another snap shots taken and couple of beers knock back under the tree and heat of the sun, there is only a small number of people in Pagudpud unlike in “Bora” the population are packed out,
“dito nalng kayo mag outing kung sakali, kesa sa bora sikat lang kasi maraming nagpupunta.” Our eldest cousin says, because she went there previously.
Since we have not much time, bye bye Pagudpud, 2 more location is waiting, the Bangui WINDMILLS is the next target, gigantic windmills and strong breeze welcomes us and we astonished to the wonderful panoramic view, then Cape Boreador at Burgos is the last, the lighthouse. The sun sets and time to go, we’re so delighted to the places that we saw and hopefully we go back again soon.
Back to the house, ready to take a rest because we will go back to Ilocos Sur and another tour awaits, Baluarte, Vigan, The Heritage and Hidden Garden are scheduled for tomorrow. 2 San Mig and I’m out! Good Night.
